          Description

          What is Semaglutide?
Semaglutide is a next-generation GLP-1 receptor agonist, initially used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes, but which has rapidly gained popularity among researchers and healthcare professionals due to its remarkable effects on weight loss. By mimicking the action of the natural hormone GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1), semaglutide helps regulate blood sugar levels and control appetite, offering significant benefits for people with metabolic syndrome, obesity or insulin resistance.

Semaglutide works by stimulating insulin secretion in a glucose-dependent manner, inhibiting glucagon secretion and slowing gastric emptying. The result is a prolonged feeling of satiety and a significant reduction in caloric intake.

Semaglutide in the treatment of obesity and weight control

Semaglutide is one of the most studied peptides for weight management, with extensive clinical trials demonstrating its effectiveness in reducing body mass in overweight or obese patients. At higher doses (2.4 mg, under the trade name Wegovy®), it has shown average body weight reductions of up to 15-17% over 68 weeks.

In addition to weight loss, patients have reported improvements in:

          Appetite control and cravings reduction

          Glucose and HbA1c levels

          Blood pressure and lipid profile

Quality of life and daily energy

          How does Semaglutide work?

Semaglutide is administered subcutaneously, usually once a week, and acts on the endocrine system in several ways:

✅ Stimulates insulin secretion when blood sugar is high

          ✅ Inhibits glucagon secretion

          ✅ Slows gastric emptying

✅ Reduces appetite and increases satiety

✅ Supports weight loss and improves insulin sensitivity

          Clinical results and studies
Semaglutide has been the subject of several phase III studies (STEP program), which have confirmed its effectiveness in weight loss and diabetes control. In a study published in The New England Journal of Medicine, patients who used semaglutide lost an average of 14.9% of their body weight compared to 2.4% in the placebo group.

In another study (STEP 4), 88% of participants who continued treatment lost at least 5% of their weight, and 70% lost more than 10%.

          Semaglutide and type 2 diabetes
Semaglutide is approved for the treatment of type 2 diabetes under the brand name Ozempic®. It offers:

Reduction of HbA1c by up to 1.5-1.8%

Superior glycemic control compared to other oral therapies

Possibility of reducing or discontinuing other antidiabetic drugs

          Reduced risk of cardiovascular complications

          Possible side effects
Like any peptide with pharmacological action, semaglutide can cause side effects, especially in the initial phases of use:

Nausea (most common, usually disappears over time)

          Vomiting

          Constipation or diarrhea

          Fatigue, mild headaches

Rarely: pancreatitis or more severe gastrointestinal problems

It is recommended to start with a low dose and increase gradually to minimize gastric discomfort. The product is intended for laboratory research purposes only.
